Thai Massage helps sciatic pain

Meet Ryan our Thai yoga massage therapist, and Holistic Practitioner. His purpose in life is to serve the highest good by fostering a safe space for those seeking to heal, let go, and feel like their best selves.

Thank you for being here everyone. This is a very unique, yet inclusive offering we have for you. If you have not heard of Thai yoga massage, Traditionally from Thailand, this type of massage involves your body being gently guided, moving through passive yoga poses while receiving massage compressions, and acupressure. It's Typically performed on a soft mat on the floor but can also be done on the table or in a chair. Sounds cool right?! Even more great news! you do not need to be a super stretchy yogi to receive this type of therapy. We meet you where you are at, and the focus is more about a natural, direct, experience with your own body. I’m happy to answer any questions about this as it is my specialty here at Golden Door.

We can also explore and incorporate a variety of other techniques and modalities to suit your specific needs. My scope of practice includes but is not limited to Deep tissue, Myofascial release, Assisted Stretching, Swedish, Reiki, Pranic Healing, Breath Work, Craniosacral, (TRE) Trauma Release Exercise, Emotional Release, and Medical Intuitive Healing, and more. I aim to be always learning and growing to aid in personal healing and in turn helping the collective.

“I enjoy and have experience working with the whole human family. All ages, colors, faiths, and sexual orientations, There’s a place here for people of all physical, emotional, or mental abilities. As an athlete, I love to work on preventing or rehabbing injuries as well as a general tune-up to boost performance. In any of your forms, I welcome you with compassion and am open to communicating about your needs to allow you to feel right at home.

All that being said, feel free to reach out for a discovery talk and/or to book a session! Your time and consideration are appreciated. Excited to see what we can create together.”

What is Thai Massage?

Thai massage is a form of therapeutic touch that differs in many ways from traditional massage. Instead of a massage table, you lie on a mat on the floor while the provider uses stretching, compression and massage to stimulate organs and improve flexibility.

Thai massage is part of traditional Thai medicine. Similar to Chinese Medicine, it works with the body's energetic pathways.

The History of Thai Massage

Many historians agree that it started at least 2,500 years ago. They attribute its start to an Indian doctor, Shivago Komarpaj, also called Jivaka Buccha Komar. He is known throughout Asia as "Father Doctor".

Shivago Komarpaj was a colleague of the Buddha. He helped to spread traditional medicinal practices throughout southern Asia. Over the years, with foreign influences, Thai massage has developed into a popular holistic health tradition that includes aspects of yoga, Ayurveda, and Chinese medicine.

How Is Thai Massage Different From Other Forms of Massage?

In most forms of massage, the practitioner uses their hands and sometimes other objects to relax and manipulate your muscles. You lie on a massage table, switching between face-down and face-up. In Thai massage, however, you lie on a mat on the floor.

You can leave your clothes on for a Thai massage. It's important to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that is easy to move in.
